Boys Varsity Soccer
Coming off of a 6-2 win against the Hopkins school, the Boys Varsity Soccer team is bound for a toe-to-toe matchup against Hotchkiss this Saturday. Led by my fellow captains, Jevaughn Sinclair 16’ and Matteo Mangiardi 17’, the big red has won its last six games. Our record of scoring 61 goals and only conceding 23 has fired this international group of soccer players to a potential playoff spot. Let’s make sure to support our boys this weekend because not only will a win ensure the Founders league championship, but it will also grant a playoff birth.
Girls Varsity Soccer
Boasting a intimidating record of 10-4-2, the Girls Varsity Soccer team has been on a roll this season. Captains Stephanie Haughton 16’ and Madie Light 16’ have been strong on defense. With Hotchkiss day on the horizon, the team looks to reach post-season soccer after a close 2-1 win versus the Kingswood-Oxford school. Best of luck to our ladies in red this weekend and hopefully later next week!
Boys Varsity Football
Despite an 0-7 record, the boys football team looks to humiliate the Bearcats this weekend. This year has been ridden with important injuries that have hindered the Big Red from reaching their full potential, but some key returners should help the team get their first victory of the season. At the same time, the members of our football team are optimistic after multiple close and unfair losses. The football team can slingshot us into the winter season by crushing their blue and white opponents this weekend, but only with the help of our Red Sweater club and its supporting members.
Boys Cross Country
Unfortunately, this weekend, the Boys Cross Country team will not be competing at the Hotchkiss campus. This weekend, our boys will be running in the New England Championships on their home turf. With a lackluster understanding of Cross Country scoring, I wish the best to our boys in red this weekend.
Girls Cross Country
After a good performance at Loomis last weekend, the Girls Cross Cuntry team hopes to jump above .500 this year. Led by Maggie Swomley, Sophia Dawn, and Amanda Roberts, all members of the class of 2016, the runners in red seek to crush the opposing bearcats this weekend at Taft. Best of luck to our fellow Tafties, and if you forgot to sign up for the fan bus, at least support the Girls Cross Country team at New Englands this weekend.
Girls Field hockey
After a 6-0 smashing of the Kingswood-Oxford school, the Taft field hockey team hopes to crush the Bearcats this weekend. Led by day student Brook Majewski 16’ and the beautiful Bella Hortsmann 16’, the Rhinos will attempt to lift their spirits after somewhat of a disappointing season. Good luck to the rhinos on the field hockey field this weekend.
Suffering a 5th set defeat to Choate by a two point deficit, the only Fall indoor team hopes to finish their season at 11-6 this weekend. Led by Agnes Wong 16’ and Helen Hofelt 16’, the team seeks a impressive record of 12-6. Let’s hope that the Rhinos spike the Bearcats into the ground this Saturday.
