When I hear the name Eric Sodero, one word comes to mind: athlete. Coming in as a new sophomore, Sodero, commonly referred to as “Sodie” or “Anthony”, saw valuable time in net last year for the Varsity Soccer team. This year Sodero is the starting goalie as a Junior, and has brought the team to a well respected ranking, with the hopes of making the playoffs. Although we have some tough games scheduled, including the dreadful Hotchkiss School, there is great potential under his leadership.
The most impressive part of Sodero’s athleticism is his ability to pick up sports. This multi-sport athlete not only competes at the elite Founders League Soccer level, but also thirds basketball and lacrosse. Using his 6’1” frame, Sodero is a beast on the court, and puts Freshmen with no other winter activity in their place. Although he had a great season for Mr. Cesarz’s team last year, many rumors have been floating around that Sodero will pitch for the baseball team this year. Sodero has picked up the sport quickly since his redshirting between current day and his well-renowned little league team. The ability to change from sport to sport on such short notice is extremely impressive, and keeps us all wondering how he does it. However, it is not unexpected with his ignorance to many social standards, which is well known due to his regular 45 minute showers.
In the words of a close friend, “Eric Sodero has mastered the art of looking athletic“ (LJ Foley ‘17). Although a soccer player first, Sodero is known as ladies man as well. He has had various members of the girls soccer team lust after him, partially due to his looks, but almost entirely owed to his skills in net. We are all hoping that Sodero will show up to our next few games, and swing us into playoff mode.
